The Religious Affiliation of Director
From: John Wakeman (editor), "'Billy' (Samuel) Wilder" in World Film Directors, Volume One: 1890-1945, H. W. Wilson Company: New York (1987), page 1206:
...June 22, 1906... born in Vienna, Austria, the younger of the two sons of Max Wilder, a hotelier and restaurateur, and the former Eugene Dittler... Wilder set his eye on Hollywood but left Germany faster than he had intended when Hitler came to power in 1933. "It seemed the wise thing for a Jew to do."
