The Religious Affiliation of Movie Star
Rock Hudson was one of the America's most popular movie stars. In Quigley Poll's annual survey of motion picture exhibitors, Rock Hudson was named the Number One top box office draw five times (1962, 1961, 1960, 1959, 1957) - a record surpassed by only one other actor (Tom Hanks).
Rock Hudson died from AIDS on 2 October 1985. The public had largely been unaware of the actor's active participation in the GLBT community.
Rock Hudson was (at least temporarily) a Scientologist. The extent of his participation in the Church of Scientology is not well documented. Clearly, however, Hudson's GLBT status was far more important than Scientology, and have been is primary religious identity.
