The Religious Affiliation of actress, movie star
Patty Duke was a Catholic. In her autobiography she recalls how although she had been a professional actress since the age of 7 or 8, it had never really been her desire to be an actress. While she was growing up she had a strong desire to become a nun. [Source: Patty Duke with Kenneth Turan, Call Me Anna: The Autobiography of Patty Duke, Bantam: New York (1987), page 5.]
Patty Duke received an Academy Award for her supporting role as the young blind and deaf student Helen Keller in the movie The Miracle Worker (1962).
