Captain Rectitude, whose real name is Bob Jones IV, is one of Marvel's least popular Jewish superheroes.
We are well aware that "Bob Jones IV" does not strike people as a particularly Jewish name. But in World War Hulk: Front Line #2 (released 18 July 2007), Captain Rectitude told federal S.H.I.E.L.D. authorities that his religious affiliation is "Jewish." Who are we to argue?
Captain Rectitude can lift in excess of 90 tons, fly, and shoot energy beams from his chest. Given all this, if you want to tell him that he is not Jewish, go right ahead. But we're just going to take his word for it.
After an arguably checkered career as a costumed hero, during which time he came into conflict with the She-Hulk, Captain Rectitude recently registered with the U.S. government in compliance with the Superhuman Registration Act and began working with federal authorities as an officially sanctioned super-hero. Mazel Tov!
By the way, actress Carolyn Jones (who received an Academy Award nomination for her 1957 film The Bachelor Party) and musician Mick Jones of the Clash are two famous Jews whose surname is "Jones." So this isn't totally unheard of.
