The Religious Affiliation of Comic Book Character
Antonio Rodriguez
Armadillo
of the Unlimited Class Wrestling Federation, Ultimate Fighting League and the Rangers

Super-Villain Team-Up: Modok's 11 #1 (September 2007) shows Armadillo seeing a vision of what he regards a spiritual guide: the Virgin of Guadalupe. This is a significant religious icon in Mexican Catholicism. Antonio Rodriguez's religious beliefs and Catholic religious affiliation and self-identity are fairly traditional for Mexican-Americans. The "vision" was induced by the M.O.D.O.K, as a means of recruiting Armadillo to participate in a heist, but nevertheless serves to illustrate the imagery that Armadillo associates with his spiritual guidance. Fellow heist recruit Mentallo, who has extensive experience in mental technologies, identified the vision as a "subliminal tele-signal manifesting a wise mentor archetype." See pages 7, 13, 15.
