* Note: There are some peculiarities regarding the Wyoming Wesleyan data in this data set, and the number of adherents in the data set (5,059) may be a mistake. This could mean that Wyoming might not really be the U.S. state with the highest proportion of Wesleyans. The number of congregations listed for Wyoming is only 8, which is believed to be the correct number. This would mean there are, on average, 632 Wesleyans in each congregation in Wyoming. While there are certainly many churches in the U.S. of this size, the next highest state average for adherents per Wesleyan church is only 332 adherents per church. The average for the U.S. is only 134 adherents per church. Furthermore, there are only 414 full-communicant members listed for all of Wyoming, which works out to 12 adherents per member. The other states typically have 2 to 4 adherents per member. For these reasons, one must conclude that either there has been a recording mistake and that Wyoming did not really have 5,059 Wesleyan adherents in 1990, or the Wesleyan church in Wyoming is statistically quite different from the national scene.
